I believe so I do – what? 3

We believe our sins are forgiven and we believe we are a new creation. New creation equals better man we believe, so we think we should behave like better people. ‘Be holy because I am holy’.

We also believe that we can never be holy enough in our own strength to match Gods holiness. We will always remain sinners, we will keep failing, but we also believe God is endlessly merciful and He always forgives.

If we believe this, why do we make such a fuss about our sins? Why are we continuously working on becoming better human beings, while we know we will never succeed?

Being a new creation means we are born again, our spirits are made alive. We were children of our earthly fathers, just flesh and blood. But now we are also children of our heavenly father, spiritual beings, revived by the Holy Spirit, capable of having contact with Him. He lives in us, we live in Him. This makes us different people, but not necessarily better; we still are flesh and blood. Our mission in life isn’t working on ourselves every day and striving to be better – that is the work of the Holy Spirit in us. Our mission is to love God with everything in us, being focussed on Him and share with our surroundings what we receive from Him.

If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”
